This mouthpiece has a soft, round rim that is very comfortable for the player. It has a high alpha angle for a gentle slope into the cup. The cup is medium shallow. The entrance to the throat is rounded to allow plenty of air flow for a nice big sound. Slotting and intonation are excellent. It is kept in stock in the JT blank, which has enough mass to enhance slotting with a big core, but not so much mass that the sound won't sizzle! This mouthpiece performs equally well on sophisticated legit playing and mind-melting lead! Customers that have played the JT RI have described it as being similar to a Marcinkiewicz 12.4. It is not a copy of that piece, but has a similar rim and cup. The Legends JT RI has the Legends throat (#27), throat cylinder length, and Legends S backbore. Design elements of this model are geared to provide maximum endurance and range for the player.
