Hi Derek,
I hope you are well. Just want to thank you for the nice backbore piece. I own both the HW and LW now plus the O HV, and as I suspected the LW Chicago fit the bill perfectly for me. I had appreciated the HW Chicago and it fit well into my Bach 43 with standard 25 leadpipe - correct gap! I found it a little too restrictive at times although the core is really good and I could make it pop when needed. So I thought, get the LW shank, as it will fit similarly, and see what happens. NICE man! It does take some time and investment to dial these things in and am now very pleased with the results. Thanks so much.

Please list the three model #'s of mouthpieces I bought from you. I like them - they are no different than the old Jet Tones I had years ago and the quality is absolutely superb. One of them has a slightly deeper V-cup than the other two - you could easily use it as a daily player.

I have to let you know that the #6 you made for me is perfect. I did not get a chance to play it in a big band till last night. It was right on the money. With the LA backbore it works very well as an upper register MP. With the S backbore it works extremely well as just a great lead MP. Great sound and allows for a great deal of precision. I used it Sunday on a church job on Piccolo. I used a Warburton Schilke Picc. Backbore a 9 Star. It was incredible. It is hands down the best Picc Mouthpiece I have ever played. Thank you.

Well…it’s been about a month now since I received your “JT-AH” mouthpiece and all I can say is “WOW”!!!!!! I think if I could have designed a custom piece it would have been this mouthpiece!! It has a big, fat, bright sound…plays as even as could be…and the upper register is, by far, the easiest I’ve ever experienced in almost 50 years of playing lead!! The one thing that REALLY freaked me out: I’ve always had a real “bug-a-boo” playing a double Bb. For the first time ever that note is coming out as big as a house!!! Amazing!!! Along with gigging I also do A LOT of private teaching and have some really good professional players that are studying the “Carmine Caruso Method” with me. Even they commented of the sound I was getting and a couple told me that it was so strong that it actually hurt their ears…which I hope is a good thing!! Lol!!! Thanks SO much for making such a GREAT product and I will DEFINITELY be in touch regarding your matching flugel and cornet pieces. Thanks to you I feel like a kid again!!! All the best to you!! Ok, this is really good info. Yesterday, I started early practicing on my new MF jet-tone modified piece I got from Derek at Legends mouthpieces and even played it on my gig. This one is a smaller diameter than the original MF jet-tone and a tighter throat (standard 27). I was already playing very small diameter pieces with a modified V cup, but this is the straight V type which Lynn was recommending. I notice this morning it is definitely easier to play the rim - so I think this design really does promote this whole embouchure very well. Derek has several models based on the MF design - I like this one the best because I didn't want to go to a bigger throat and I already like very small diameter pieces which are smaller than the original pieces that MF played - which are usually measured around .630. So if you are practicing Lynn's protocol, I am finding the actual MF design makes a big difference for me. Check out the different ones Derek has at legendsmpc.com I think he has at least 6 different models based on the MF design in different diameters, etc. Best, Lex

doesn't dig your alterations, as it works perfect for me. You just
saved me from attempting a custom design. This is what I needed, and
I can now sell a few of my other mpcs that never quite cut it.
You've truly shown the difference and what was wrong with the VMF and
similar reproductions, regarding air flow, resistance, alpha angle,
and the correct convex slope. I dig your science, dude. At least I
can speak for myself, yet surely others will agree. Take care!

It arrived late yesterday afternoon and I used it on my gig last night without playing a note on it beforehand ( I have been playing on another brands' copy of the Bill Chase jet tone so the switch wasn't dramatic). What was dramatic was the way your piece plays. I don't know what you've done from a technical standpoint, but the piece is amazing. I could hear myself better, the projection, the intonation, the response were all immediately better. My endurance was better than it has been and it actually added several notes to my upper range without losing any of the low register. I'm more than impressed with your product. Just spent about an hour my new Legends JT620 made by Derek Saidak.... Holy high notes batman!..
Coming from my corral of the usual S* and M* and L* branded .620-.630 diameter pieces, my first impression is that it has a broader tone in middle registers than any of the smaller diameter stuff I have. Very well matched throat dynamics and back-bore...
The piece I was using for lead cut off like a muffler at F# above High C, and although I could push through it to G and above no problem, I didn't like having to muscle around it. Wore me out too soon.
The Legends JT 620 actually surprised me (hard to do as Ive been playing lead for 30 years) from the first blow..Easy solid locking high G and double A both, With a big sound..Also peak range went from Dbbl Bflat, to topping out at E above double C with no loss of tone.....Wowsers..
Felt a little bit weird having to lock in embouchure a bit more precisely due to smaller diameter, but only took a few set up drills to get it right..
These pieces are for real....

Derek, it's mike up in franklin mass...............I've been going to town on this classique. Man oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!! This cuts when you get on it.i recently played through a bose system with a sure 57 mic and what a sound!!!!!! In you get up in the upper register lean on it and of course with the legends l-bl4pr there is no end. It's like this crisp sizzle that happens.it tears right through! I also played on some mellow tunes and all I can say is that it sounds really pretty, but oh man when you want to wake things up, and at no real crazy effort it screams. Just giving you an update and more to come soon. Feel free to put this out for people to see....don't under estimate legends horns and mouthpieces. I recently got your Tony Scodwell Legends mouthpiece and just wanted to thank you. Been using it for about a week now.
